Building an organisation of mass membership is essential to the future of OBU. The aim is to build an organisation that brings the Black community together, regardless of our differences to work collectively to solve the challenges we face. We therefore need to make the organisation accountable to Black communities and this can only be the case if we have the people in the community on board.

Mass membership is also essential because we cannot rely on the government or other public funding bodies for long term funding. Funding can be cut or reduced and funders can make unreasonable demands such as a change of our activities to suit their politics. We must look to ourselves for our core funding. Therefore, we have set membership fees to join the organisation, which can be paid monthly or annually:

Standard:

£5 monthly; £55 Annually

Concession rate for students, unwaged and over 65s:

£4 monthly;  £44 Annually

Methods of Payment

We have set up Paypal recurring payments for monthly and annual  membership fees. Payments are inclusive of Paypal fees.
